In this year's competition each student team had to design an autonomous robot/vehicle to deliver up to 12 ping-pong balls, one at a time, in sequence to the 4 corner pockets on a square 8' x 8' track. The robot had to originally hold all of the balls within its 8" x 12" x 6" maximum dimensions. Points were earned based on the delivery of balls in the proper sequence and according to various constraints, including a 120 second time limit.. Bonus points could be earned if all 12 balls were delivered in the proper sequence in less than 120 seconds. A significant portion of the final team score was also based on a presentation that each team made before a panel of judges and a team report. See the 2006 Official Rules for full details. |
