Page 8 - Assignments TESTS - All Students MUST SIGN THEIR TESTS IN THE APPROPRIATE place - Print your name/date in the appropriate place so I know who to give the "A" to :) "CAUTION: You must print your name and sign above. Your signature is your declaration that you did not GIVE or RECEIVE ANY inappropriate help on this test (clearly explained in the Student Handout). DON'T FORGET - FILL OUT THE SCANTRON - ZERO WILL BE THE GRADE ASSIGNED FOR: 1. NO SIGNATURE 2. FAILURE TO TURN TEST IN W/ SCANTRON - Students need a #2 pencil and a SCANTRON form No. 882-E (sold at vending machines across from Rm 128-Pass Bldg) - Students must have student picture ID, SCANTRON, and #2 Pencil - Online Students - tests given in TESTING FACILITY (room 210), Pass Building, CHESAPEAKE CAMPUS ONLY. - Face-to-Face Students - test given in regular classroom - Tests are given only on the one day schedules - I keep the SCANTRONs on file for 5 years, therefore they are NOT returned to students, HOWEVER, students are encouraged to come by my office hours and check the SCANTRONS for mistakes. For tests, in addition to filling out the SCANTRONS I recommend circling the correct answer directly on the test so when you get it back you can see the answer you chose. In cases in which the marked answer on the SCANTRON does not match the circled answer on the test ONLY THE ANSWER MARKED ON THE SCANTRON WILL BE COUNTED - NOT THE ANSWER ON THE TEST. - Students ARE REQUIRED to sign-in not less than 2 hours prior to closing. Hours: Monday - Thursday: open at 8:30 am - close at 8:45 pm (students must sign-in prior to 6:45 pm) Friday: open at 8:30 am - close at 4:45 pm (students must sign-in prior to 2:45pm) Saturday: open at 9:00 am - close at 12:45 pm (students must sign-in prior to 10:45 am) - At closing, the Testing Center will terminate your test and you will not be able to re-take the test - the grade will be recorded. - For online lecture students - test will be hard copy only so please don't forget the SCANTRON - for policies etc: click on: [Testing Center at the Chesapeake Campus] - Students are not allowed to take online or face-to-face tests/exams for this class at any other campus. - The Testing Center is a professionally operated, certified testing facility - they have regulations and rules that must be followed: - When you enter the Testing Center your ID will be checked, you will be logged in and seated - Your test will be a hard copy – Use a SCANTRON (if you forget, just circle the correct answer directly on the test, but these will take longer to grade.) I will prepare an “early” version of the tests and exams for students experiencing DOCUMENTED scheduling conflicts. For these early versions: - I must be notified within 1 WEEK prior to the requested test - Students will not be permitted to take the regular test if they elect to take the early version - Students must notify me of their request at least ONE WEEK prior to the scheduling of the early test. - It will be Different Multiple Choice questions than the regularly scheduled test (from the same test bank) - These questions will not appear on the final exam, HOWEVER, the key and regular test that will provide questions for the final will indeed be available to you via Course Documents/keys as usual - The key to the earlier test version will not be posted - The tests remain on file with me (i.e. they are not given back to the student) - Students are encouraged to come by during my office hours to go over the test - This test will be given as a hard copy so bring a #2 Pencil to circle your answers right on the test. - NOT PERMITTED WHEN TAKING TESTS/EXAMS - electronic devices such as sound/audio, calculators, etc., etc., etc. - phones, etc. - THESE ARE NOT ALLOWED IN TESTING FACILITY OR OUT IN CLASS ROOM DURING TESTS - paper, scratch, or otherwise - books/notes (written on body :) or anywhere else), electronic or otherwise, etc. - hats, sunglasses, etc - gum, or any other type of food or drink - open notes or discussions with other students in the greeting room is not allowed - The test w/ answers will be posted in blackboard's "Course Documents" once all classes have taken them. What to Study ? 1. the primary study source is the Online Web Notes accessed from the class schedule from my web pages (these are the green hypertext mentioned earlier) or found as power point slides in a pdf format found in Course Documents in bb. - these notes include the pathologies at the end of many chapters - I recommend copy/paste into a word document to enlarge the font - go to the bottom of each page and click on “NEXT” to get the next page (they are numbered)….If you go back and click on the next green hypertext, you may be skipping a chapter or so. 2. Prefixes, Roots, Suffixes In this syllabus is a list of terms, roots, prefixes, and suffixes. - This list is divided into sections that correspond to lecture tests - Each test will include 10. - The lists are different for bio 141 & 142 during the Fall and Spring semesters 3. Flash Cards – In the Course Documents of Blackboard you will find over 2000 flash cards. Essentially, these are most of your web notes, reworded as questions. These comprise about 85-90% of the test bank. HOWEVER, there may be typos/mistakes in these and you MUST DOUBLE CHECK THESE AGAINST THE WEB NOTES.
