Michael J. French Memorial Engineering Scholarship
2008 Award Recipients


The TCC Engineering Club, along with the scholarship selection committee, is pleased to announce that three students were selected to receive $750 scholarships from the Michael J. French Memorial Engineering Scholarship.  The selection committee was impressed with students’ career plans and is glad to be able to assist them financially as they pursue careers in engineering.

Youssef Hamami
Educational Goal:  Youssef plans to transfer to ODU to pursue a career in Civil Engineering in the area of public transportation.  He would like to return to his home country of Morocco to pursue a career in public transportation.  Youssef has been very active in the TCC Engineering Club and has participated in a number of related competitions.

Stephen Reid
Educational Goal:  Stephen plans to transfer to ODU to pursue a career in Electrical Engineering.  He has also been gaining valuable related experience working for Virginia Power as an intern.   Stephen has been active in the TCC Engineering Club as well.

Jeremy Smith
Educational Goal:  Jeremy plans to transfer to Virginia Tech to pursue a career in Mechanical engineering.  He has much related experience with nuclear reactors though the Navy and as a machinist.  He has also been involved in a number of competitions through the TCC Engineering Club, often machining his own parts!
