Questions or Suggestions about the 2007 ASEE Model Design Competition

1)  Can we use air to propel or shoot the ping-pong balls?    No, the rules prohibit any “gaseous discharge,” so air would not be allowed.
2)  Monroe Community College offers the following suggestions when building the track:
“We built our track and have a few suggestions for others.  First we created the 2X4 side rails and attached them to the backboards.  Then we installed a plywood "sub-floor" under this frame.  We then inserted the 2' x 4' sections of black PVC on top of the "sub-floor" and applied the white tape.

To attach the 18oz Solo cups to the backboards we are using Velcro.  Our logic is that if a robot pulls down on the cup it will simply tear off the backboard and can easily be replaced.”  Contact John Wadach at Monroe Community College (see email address below) for more information.
