Design Competition

Binghamton University's vehicle

This year's competition featured a track that offered teams three paths by which to navigate the course.  The "Longest Path" featured a long winding path.  The "Bridge Path" featured a shorter path, but the vehicle had to climb over a track barrier using the bridge provided.  The "Tunnel Path" featured the shortest path, but the vehicle had to go through two small tunnels.  The time to complete the course was multiplied by a different scale factor for each path to account for the different lengths of the paths, except that the "Bridge Path" and the "Tunnel Path" were given 10% time advantages to offset their greater difficulty.  Each student team had to design an autonomous vehicle to complete the couse using the path of their choice. The vehicles were subject to limitation in size, batteries, and cost.   See the official rules for full details.  The results of the  competition are as follows:  (Select a team below for photos)
