Lateral view - head and thorax.

This method of fetal "clearing" and "staining" is used to examine for skeletal defects that may be caused by various compounds.  Testing may be accomplished by maternal or fetal exposure to compounds that may one day be given to humans.

Here bones stain a darker purple/red and cartilage stains blue.
