Simple Cuboidal Epithelium
As with simple squamous epithelium, the Renal Cortex is an excellent location to demonstrate
simple cuboidal epithelium. The Proximal and Distal Convoluted Tubules are found clustered around the
Renal Corpuscles (the proximal tubules are much more numerous and darker staining). If you examine
the renal medulla, most of the cell architecture there is simple cuboidal making up the collecting
ducts and thick ascending & descending limbs of the loop of Henle.
Note: you may see rather "tall cuboidal" or "low columnar" cells.....for my class we will
consider it just "simple cuboidal".
