What can I do with an AAS CADD degree from TCC?

Graduates will typically work with engineers, architects, and other designers, translating ideas into the digital and paper production drawings and other digital design work used in business, industry, and manufacturing. Our AAS Degree CADD students work with Autodesk’s AutoCAD and Inventor Software. They learn to develop 2D and 3D (solid model) drawings and design work.  They will work with; rapid prototyping (3D Printing/Additive Manufacturing), material selection and specification, and design analysis techniques used to improve the design and production/manufacturing process.

AAS degree graduates can enter the workforce upon graduation. Our graduates have been hired by and/or are working for various companies in the area including; NASA, ARMY Corps of Engineers, Huntington Ingalls Industries (Newport News Shipbuilding), NNSY, and Local Architectural Engineering and Construction (AEC) firms.

Those AAS graduates who meet the conditions of the Guaranteed Admissions Agreement (GAA) with ODU, also have the option to transfer (with a minimum of 57 credits) to Old Dominion University to complete a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology (MET). Those in the architectural side of the CADD program can transfer to Hampton University’s Architectural Program as defined in the GAA.

Programs For Business and Industry

If you are from the business and industry community with interests and or needs related to the field of CAD contact me, and we can talk about your interests.  We can talk about a number of things including internships, or specialized training through our Autodesk Training Center here at the Portsmouth Campus.  Additionally, I would like to talk with you about projects where we could work together (where feasible) on projects of mutual interest. Contact me if you are looking for full or part time CAD personnel. An initial phone call or email will get us talking about the possibilities and create a new resource for your company. Get it started with a phone call.
