Explores fundamental characteristics of living matter from the molecular level to the ecological community with emphasis on general biological principles. Introduces the diversity of living organisms, their structure, function and evolution. General Biology 101 is the first semester of a two semester sequence intended for students majoring in the biological sciences or as an elective, and for students who intend to attend a professional school in the sciences. This course, together with General Biology 102 is designed to prepare you for upper level biology courses or related fields in a wide range of topics. General Biology covers cell structure and function, plant and animal anatomy as well as genetics, and includes both lecture and laboratory sections.
