One use of M&S is planning for disasters. It helps plan evacuations, and how the disaster may play out.

M&S can be used to improve traffic flow.

M&S can be used to determine how many trucks will be needed to mine coal as well as determining how long it will take to remove the material.

M&S answers the question, how many products can be produced per hour? It can also help with determining the best way to package the materials.

M&S can be used to better explain concepts via the use of 3D representations,† graphs, and charts.

Modeling and Simulation at TCC

Modeling and Simulation is an area that uses computer representations to study and understand interactions and train with systems that are too costly, too dangerous, or physically impossible to build.

Using a hands-on approach, rooted in key industry practices, TCC offers a Modeling a Simulation program that provides the conceptual understanding and the hands on experience required by todayís top employers.

Hampton Roads is one of the top areas in the country for Modeling and Simulation. Job opportunities range from education, to homeland security with much in between.

Welcome to Jody Strausserís Modeling and Simulation Facutly Website.  This site contains basic information about me, the Modeling and Simulation industry, and the courses I teach.

Below is a short history regarding my interest in Modeling and Simulation.  After receiving a Bachelorís degree in Computer Science from Moravian College in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, I continued on to receive a Masterís in  Computer Science from the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia.  After graduation, I worked for Lockheed Martin in the intelligence gathering field for approximately a year until returning to Hampton Roads to work as a defense contractor in the Modeling and Simulation industry.  During my seventh year in this exciting work, I learned of TCCís efforts to develop a two year program at the Technician level in Modeling and Simulation.  After some careful thought, this opportunity peaked my interest and I was hired on full time.

I enjoy working with students and exploring the many aspects and uses of Modeling and Simulation.  I hope you will find the information provided useful.  Certainly, if you have any questions or comments, please feel free to contact me via the information listed above.
