HUM 231 is an introductory survey of the cultures of Asia. It offers a panoramic view of the distinctive arts and literature of Asian countries. Major religious and philosophical traditions, including Confucianism, Taoism, Hinduism, and Buddhism will be examined.
The course will explore cultures within the framework of the countries of Asia, including both larger countries of India and China and Japan, and smaller areas, including Korea and Viet Nam. This is a three-credit hour college course.
